Do you ever hit that point in your journey when you start to feel like you being weighed down by everything around you?

Lately, it has felt like life has been throwing speed humps in my road, and no matter how much gas I give it, I just can’t seem to climb over them.
I’m going to be completely transparent here for a moment with you. Being an indie author is a lot more work than I ever thought it would be.
It’s not just writing a book and publishing it.
It’s social media: Facebook page, Facebook Groups, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter. Participating in Facebook Release Parties, Cover Reveals, and Spotlights.
It’s creating games and giveaways for parties and promotions.
It’s managing teams: Alpha, Beta, ARCs.
It’s fighting with Kindle Direct Publisher and Amazon.
It’s drafting, editing, second drafts, re-edits, third drafts thru fifth drafts.
It’s formatting and copyrights and deadlines.
It’s creating the perfect cover to catch the eye of the reader.
It’s creating a budget and trying to get everything to fit inside of that budget.
It’s fighting for reviews and no matter hard you try or how much you push, you just can’t seem to get them.
It’s fighting piracy and copyright infringements.
It’s sleepless, worry-filled nights.
It’s making sure you remember self-care and to spend some time with your family, to ground yourself.

But it’s also getting that message from someone you touched with your words.
It’s getting that note that someone read your story and finally no longer feels alone.
It’s knowing that you helped someone find a light at the end of their dark tunnel.
It’s knowing that you provided joy for someone who needed to escape their life for just a few hours.

I love what I’m doing and yes, it’s overwhelming, but no matter how hard it gets, I will remember that for those few people I provided something with the words I wrote, and I will keep pushing on.

So when you’re feeling overwhelmed and like you can’t push through, try to find that little spark of light and fight. Fight for the light at the end of your tunnel.

It has been a bit crazy this month; with getting sick, my husbands hours changing, the kids having appointments every week, and a newborn who LOVES to be held. Plus there is the holiday prepping as well already and trying to get the house in order for family who will be staying with us. With that I decided to use NaNoWriMo this month to push me to finish Shattered Strength on time and get a jump start on a new series.

NaNoWriMo has been great at motivating me to keep going and not give up. There are so many great authors posting videos and blogs to motivate and encourage you. I’ve been able to hook up with some other local writers with is very encouraging. All in all I love the tracker. Now there count only goes to 50K but still it’s great to see the projections of where I should be and where I am and the forecast for if I keep going at the rate I am when I would hit 50K. Need to find something like this for after November.

Never heard of NaNoWriMo check it out here. It’s never too late to get started.

Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? If you are I’d love to hear from you about your experience.

First Release

So my first release day has come and gone. It felt very similar to that of a first kiss.

You know those butterflies you get when your sitting or standing there, staring into each other’s eyes and the anticipation builds and builds in your gut. Your hands get sweaty and you mouth goes dry and you forget how to breathe. Yeah that was the day before release day. That was the anticipation butterflies.

The morning of was when your lips meet and the kiss begins. Your mind goes blank for a second and then you realize, “Okay I got this.” Your confidence begins to build and you start feel comfortable in the act. And it’s all good from there, it’s like riding a bike, once you get the hang of it, it’s all….”nothing to see here folks, move it along.” That was the day of.

… but I’ll let you in on a little secret. You wanna know what it is?

Come a little closer… closer… I’ll whisper it in your ear, come closer….

I’m glad it’s over now and I can get back to focusing on Shattered Strength aka Book 2. LOL!

Counting Down

It’s kind of crazy when you think about where you came from, and the paths you’ve had to take in order to get to where you are now.

If you had asked me a year ago if I thought I’d be releasing my first book in two days I would have laughed at the notion of even writing a book. Truly and honestly, I never thought this would even be a possibility.

I have always enjoyed telling stories but growing up with dyslexia I always struggled with writing and reading. However, when you’ve been telling your children that they can do anything they set their minds to, and they set this challenge in front of you, you use it as a teaching moment. So here we are after the help by amazing sets of teams and some incredible encouragement from others we are now counting down the days until release day. I think tomorrow I’ll be counting down the hours!!!

Beautifully Shattered

I think sometimes we’re all a little beautifully shattered, I didn’t realize how much I was until I sat down and started to write my first book. A collaboration of truth and fiction. Breaking and healing.

This story took on a new meaning for me while I wrote it. It was an unintentional chance for me to face my own demons, my own shattered past, and work on healing the brokenness I didn’t realize was still there.

In the end I think it was worth it all. I can’t wait for you share in the healing journey Riley goes through and the new beginning she starts. I hope this story can inspire you in some way, maybe even show there is a light at the end of all dark tunnels, We just have to fight harder sometimes to find it, even if it means punching a hole in the side to get to it.

Beautifully Shattered

Shadowcrest Pack Series, Book One

Four alpha wolves, one alpha bear and one lost, confused, and hurt alpha she-wolf. Sounds like the beginning of a really bad bar joke. Only this was my life.

I knew one day I would be the alpha of my pack. Been preparing for it since before I could walk. I just never thought I would have to lose everything to get there, including myself.

After years on my own, the new alphas in my life have taken it upon themselves to try to fix me. Only they don’t know who they’re dealing with.

Beautifully Shattered is book one of three in the Shadowcrest Pack Series, that ends on a cliffhanger. This is a reverse harem paranormal romance featuring one female with five males; that is a slow/medium burn containing M/M and F/M/M/M/M/M sexual themes suitable for +18 audience. Trigger Warnings: This book includes substance abuse, sexual assault, physical abuse and violence, swearing, and PTSD.

Releasing Saturday, October 31, 2020

New Beginnings

The sun rises on new beginnings

How exciting it is to start this journey and be able to share it with you all. For a first post I thought that I would share a little background into why or how this journey started, because it was definitely unexpected.

This all started as a dare however it didn’t stay there when my 12 year old was diagnosed with depression and having had thoughts of suicide. As a writer herself I challenged her use that talent to help her manage her thoughts and feelings. I challenged her give her characters the same issues she was dealing with and to find a positive outcome for them, and then learn from that. What steps were needed, how they came to that outcome, and so on.

She accepted this challenge on one condition; I would publish a book myself. Challenge accepted, I’m not one to back down. Plus I would never pass on an opportunity to teach my children to always reach for the stars and never give up on their ambitions or dreams.

So here I sit 2 months later, writing my first blog, publishing my first website, setting up a thousand social media accounts all while my first book is being edited and up for pre-order. Wow, just wow. Not much more to say to that other than here’s to the start of a new chapter.
